Germany sets solar power electricity record produced 22 gigawatts of electricity - equal to 20 nuclear power stations
On May 26, solar power supplied Germany with almost half its peak electricity needs.
Germany set the world record for photovoltaic energy generation at 22 gigawatts per hour -- or approximately 50 percent of German electricity demand.
After Fukushima nuclear disaster last year Germany a developed nation decided to stop using nuclear power energy.
And immediately German government shut 8 nuclear power plants.
And declared that before 2022 all the nuclear plants will be shut down.
And foolish developing countries are installing nuclear power plants
For me every supporter of nuclear plant is selfish man or corrupt man or uneducated man.
German government decided to shut down nuclear energy power plants and use only renewable energy sources such as wind, solar and bio-mass.
Norbert Allnoch, director of the Institute of the Renewable Energy Industry (IWR) in Muenster told to media that the 22 gigawatts of solar power fed into the national grid on Saturday met nearly 50 percent of the nation's midday electricity needs.
The 22 GW figure is up from about 14 GW a year ago. Germany added 7.5 GW of installed power generation capacity in 2012 and 1.8 GW more in the first quarter for a total of 26 GW capacity.

Australia is also using solar power very intelligently.
Australia installed more small-scale solar power systems than Germany during 2011 – 795MW of rooftop solar panel systems of 10kW capacity or smaller compared to Germany's 759MW.
Regarding Solar Power Germany is No.1 but Australia is also not behind.
Where India is standing?
Just think in last 64 years how much power was added by Indian politicians and Indian government.

Excellent work by both Germany and Australia. India has more land than these countries but has been sleeping till now. Gujarat is the only state (as far as I know) which has executed a mega solar project. Other states are happy with their most inefficient electricity boards?

Nuclear power is here to stay. Solar is still very expensive. We just have to figure out safer way to make nuclear power.
So what our Cabinet Ministers has a instaalled capacity of 22gwhr each .Offcourse the public can take a cur from here.

I have seen the solar cookers and they work very well, and specially in chennai, they will be very useful.

Wow that's amazing, maybe solar power will be the way to go soon. I mean its so much energy in the sun that essentially goes to waste. Why not utilize it if we can.

hey. well said . i think its major responsibility on government to promote use of pv panels.especially considering the prices of natural gas and oils rising up eventually. also strict laws must be enacted to promote pv manufacturers interest.
